Quick insides on Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser:

The Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser is an oil-free, non-drying acne cleanser. It claims to thoroughly clean pores and remove traces of dirt, residue, and oil, which can lead to break outs. The cleanser is formulated with Salicylic Acid, which helps clear skin of blemishes, and also has Cinnamon Bark Extract, which is antibacterial, and Ginger Root Extract, which has soothing properties and absorbs excess oil.

While it says it’s a gel cleanser, the Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser has a very liquid consistency, and it lathers up nicely so you really do feel like your face is getting cleaner. Despite that, it doesn’t over-dry my skin; my skin never feels tight after I use this. It’s formulated with Camphor, so the cleanser feels very refreshing and cooling. You all need to know how much I love Salicylic Acid, and it’s great they integrated it into a cleanser. I do still breakout sometimes, but I haven’t had any whitehead breakouts. I don’t think this could prevent big zits from popping out, but it has helped prevent small breakouts. It’s quite expensive, but I’ve had mine for so long and I’m not even halfway through with it. I thought the liquid consistency would make it easy to use up, but it actually makes it easier to save.

My experience with Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser:

This is one of the best cleansers I have ever used. As the name suggests, it is a bright blue, rather runny gel. Comes in an elongated plastic bottle with a flip open cap. It has a rather different and strong plastic seal on the mouth of the bottle to prevent spillage. It also contains menthol, camphor and sorbitol giving a cooling sensation on use. This cool feeling goes away within 30 seconds. No dry, stretchy feeling is experienced after use it. Most facial skin will literally feel light, clean and smooth.

I can feel my skin breath after I wash my face using this cleanser. While I don’t believe this to ‘cure’ my acne, it will definitely help having an oil free face, hence preventing frequent acne bouts. About 3 drops of the cleanser suffice for my face, giving a bit of lather. This will definitely last me for months.  I wish this was brought to India earlier !! Price may be a hurdle for some but most dermatologist recommended face washes that I have used were around the same price range, so you might as well try this one out ! And if you are still apprehensive about dishing out a huge sum for a mere face wash, go ahead and ask for samples. You will definitely buy the bottle !

As of June the Blue Herbal Cleanser has been discontinued from Kiehls’ due to low sales from my personal contact with customer service. I will update you guys on my new alternative.

  • At first I wasn’t sure I would like this cleanser. My favorite Kiehl’s cleanser had been discontinued and I tried a couple others that didn’t work. I was plesantly surprised and have since purchased an additional bottle. I have normal/oily skin, which can be prone to a small blemish if I miss a wash. This cleanser keeps my skin fresh and balanced. I use it once a day at night before bed. One bottle lasts a very long time. It does not dry my skin and is great at removing my make-up, even mascara (non-waterproof). (Note: It does not tingle or burn, but don’t let that fool you – it still is very effective.)

  • Girls with oily skin should try out this face wash…just go and get the samples !!! I could give up all my cosmetics for this bottle !!!

  • This cleanser had me just a little nervous due to the menthol in it. I have heard that menthol can be irritating to sensitive skin with blemishes, especially irritated blemishes, so I wasn’t sure what I was going to get. Well, I used it, and was happy to find that it was actually pretty gentle, and super refreshing! There is a cooling effect that was enjoyable and definetly not overpowering. The scent is nice, and it lathers well. You also donot need much to get a good lather. So far, I am pleased with this product. It also has many great reviews so that also says something about it. I did not purchase this from Amazon, but straight from the Kiehls website. I recommend doing that to ensure you are getting a fresh, authentic product. Am looking forward to trying more of Kiehls products.

  • Caution. This cleanser will strip your skin. It left my face feeling like sandpaper after several uses. It contains sodium laureth sulfate – a foaming agent known to cause dryness. If you have sensitive skin like me, I’d look elsewhere.
